El 25 de Noviembre de 1961, debido a las lluvias intensas de esa semana, se produjo la rotura del muro de contención del arroyo Tamarguillo, entre la Avenida Kansas City y la carretera de Carmona, produciendo una gran inundación que afectaría a más de 125.000 sevillanos. El agua alcanzó los 3,15 metros en algunos puntos de la ciudad.
